Louis trova impossibile rifiutare l’offerta di evasione definitiva da parte dell’affascinante Lestat de Lioncourt: unirsi a lui come compagno vampiro, perché è frustrato dai limiti della vita di un nero nella New Orleans dei primi anni del 1900. Tuttavia, le nuove capacità seduttive di Louis hanno un costo brutale e l’avvento della nuova cucciola di vampiro di Lestat, Claudia, li spinge presto a intraprendere un lungo percorso di ritorsione ed espiazione.
